Book

I wanted to share a fail. I found on Pinterest that cutting a book could make a great box. So I found an old book and took it on our camping trip

I started with cutting out the middle of the book. This was messy and the paper bunched up in the corner and between the pages.

I then sanded the pages for smooth sides for the inside of the box. This made the side a little dirty.

I started with mod podge. It set the pages and add a gloss finish. 

I thought the glue would add more smoothness, but it only emphasized the areas I did not sand enough and trapped in some black dirt.

I did manage to mod podge one of my photos to the front. It turn out to be a nice addition. The book still had the title on the side so glued a little fabric to cover it up!

I tried to increase the look by adding resin to the inside, creating a smoother texture and coating. 

Then I finished the corners with some corner pieces. 

Unfortunately, the back suffered some stains from all the glue and I put the corner pieces on backwards. The felt on the spine looks cheesey. However, it was fun to make, and I may just have to keep it in my book collection.
